Analysis of geographic data related to light pollution may be used in developing sampling designs for ground-based monitoring, analyzing trends in sky brightness observations, verifying models of sky glow, and creating regional assessments. Dan Duriscoe is a co-author of the New World Atlas of Artificial Sky Brightness, published in Science Advances in 2016, with lead author Fabio Falchi, pictured below.
